Hi,

I have some Pdf that everything is highlight in Acrobat is not showing in Citavi. When i highlight an entire paragraph, sometimes in Citavi I see highlighted only one word, but not entire paragraph. I repaired the pdf but the problem persists. Eveything I highlight in Citavi I can see in Pdf but not viceversa.

Please advice.

Thanks in advanced.

I tried replicating that using the e-book version from ProQuest, but I can't replicate it with that PDF. However, my suspicion is that when looking at the PDF annotation created by Adobe, I notice it is discontinuous. Citavi’s PDF component has problems with annotations that have a complicated structure. I have created an AddOn that mostly does a number of other things, but one of the things it does it trying to simplify complex external annotations before importing them. I'd be curious if the annotation looks better if you download the AddOn (the alpha version), move it to a folder "AddOns" in your Citavi programme directory, restart Citavi, and then import the annotations via the AddOn.

Hi, Patrick

You might also want to try to re-create the PDF using Ghostscript. In many cases this fixes the inconsistencies in the PDF that are responsible for the issues you experience in Citavi. Please run the following command from the Windows command line (or gswin64c.exe if you've installed the 64bit version):

gswin32c.exe -o REPAIRED.PDF -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dPDFSETTINGS=/prepress BROKEN.PDF

Thanks, Sebastian.

I finally solved the problem by running again OCR. It seems that some fonts were the problem. Now my document is ok. But i'll bookmark your solution for others pdf in case I'll run again in trouble.

PS: I downloaded this but no ideea what to write in the config file

Hi, Patrick,

just put the path to Ghostcript's gswin32c.exe or gswin64c.exe into that file, e.g.:

C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.16\bin\gswin64c.exe

Then save the file.

Hi,

I have the same problem with some PDF files which are not OCR-ed. Is there any way to fix them while displaying in Citavi?

I didn't get about how to use Ghostcript from the previous conversations.

Thanks!
