Need Answer

If there is a jump back button for us to return the previous page, It can be better. Sometimes after we click the [number] of the references in the paper, the page jumps to the reference page, but It is not easy to go back to the previous page I read.

Dear Shibo,

Thank you very much for your suggestion!

A Citavi user has developped an external add-on with which you can jump to the previous position after clicking a link in the PDF file.

Please follow the instructions here to install the add-on.

Kind regards,

Jana

Hi,

I'm having the same issue and this link seems to be broken.

Do you have another solution?

Thanks

Hi Jana,

I am new to Citavi (just purchased a licence) and I am having the same issue as Shibo and Tali. I downloaded the add-on from the link and installed it in accordance with the instructions (i.e. created a folder AddOns and copied the unzipped files into the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns). Unfortunately I do not see the add-on under Tools/Manage add-ons, and I cannot jump to the previous position after clicking a link in a PDF file. Can you help me.

Hi Nikolai,

Thank you for your message.

The external add-on will not be listed in our Add-on store.

After installing the add-on, the keyboard shortcut Alt + F3 will be added to the PDF preview to jump back to the previous position (e.g. back from the bibliography to the linked reference in the text).

Could you please let me know the version of Citavi you’re using? The four-digit version number of the Citavi version you have installed can be found in the "Help" > "About Citavi" menu or in the left lower corner on your Citavi Welcome screen.

Kind regards,

Jana

Thank you for the prompt and helpful reply. The keyboard shortcut Alt + F3 works, but the command Jump to previous position in the Tools menu of Citavi's PDF Viewer (as described in the add-on documentation https://github.com/lutz/JumpToLastPositionAfterActionExecutionAddon) does not appear.

The keyboard shortcut is great when I am working on my computer, but not so helpful when I am reading on a tablet. Is there a way to add the Jump to previous positioncommand in the Tools menu of Citavi's PDF Viewer?

My Citavi version is 6.7.0.0.

Thank you again,

Hi Nikolai,

Thanks for the good news that the shortcut works.

As the add-on was not developed by Citavi, but a Citavi user, please let the developer know about the issue here:

https://github.com/lutz/JumpToLastPositionAfterActionExecutionAddon/issues

Kind regards,

Jana

Hello @Nikolai B., I followed your instruction to install the add-on in the above comment. However, the command alt + F3 still didn't work. Can you please verify the installation steps? (probably something changed in the past couple of months..?) Thanks! There is actually aven no installation documentations in the GitHub repo...

Hi Hua-Ming, I suggest you contact the developer at https://github.com/lutz/JumpToLastPositionAfterActionExecutionAddon/issues. I am just a user like you, and my problems were not with the keyboard shortcut Alt + F3, but the command Jump to previous position in the Tools menu.

Hello @Nikolai B.,

Thanks for your reply.

May I know your directory structure in C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns? I am not sure which files should be put in the AddOns folder. If installed successfully, both functionalities with keyboard shortcut Alt + F3 and the option "Jump to previous position" displayed in the Tools menu should work, right?

I have also tried to contact the author. However, it seemed users cannot report issues via the repo at the moment. No ideas how to get in touch with the author...

Best Regards,

Hua-Ming

Hi Hua-Ming, the directory structure is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns\de\*.dll. Good luck and hope this helps,

Hi everyone,

just wanted to add that

1. It is true that at the moment one cannot file any issues for lutz' repositories on github. He may have turned it off completely or temporarily.

2. I cannot get this or any other Add-on that is not in the Citavi Add-on store to work, either. First of all, the link in the very first comment in "Please follow the instructions here to install the add-on." is broken. As the following comments suggest, I then tried to download and unzip the Addon from GitHub into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns" and into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns\de\". I restarted my PC, opened local and cloud projects - nowhere could I see the new addon.

(I saw that you wrote C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns\de\*.dll but I am not sure what to do with the *.dll when coyping an addon folder to a location)

OK, nothing happens, nothing works, after putting the unzipped file into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Citavi 6\AddOns\de\JumpToLastPositionAfterActionExecutionAddon.resources.dll". Hope someone could fix it because I think this will be a great feature to have!
