Copy/paste references to new project: no links between knowledge items and local files

Hi,

I have copied/pasted a bunch of references to a new project with Ctrl C/Ctrl V

I am using Citavi 6, version 6.3.4.0

All the knowledge items, categories, groups etc have been transferred, and so the links to the local files. Unfortunately the links between knowledge items and local files have not been transferred, so I can't retrieve directly the knowledge items' position.

As you can see below a knowledge item that I have transferred into the new project ("old") had no link, but a newly created item does have it.

Hi, Serena

I haven't been able to reproduce this behaviour here. Could you please let me know the version of Citavi you’re using? The four-digit version number of the Citavi version you have installed can be found in the "Help" > "About Citavi" menu. Thank you.

Best regards

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian, thank you for trying to reproduce the problem. I am using Citavi 6, version 6.3.4.0

I have thought about updating. I was wondering if the possibility to see tablet pen annotations is still there in the later versions. I had read something that made me think it was scrapped and I did not want to take the risk, but maybe I had just misunderstood the announcement.

Hi, Serena

You should definitely make the update to the most recent beta version 6.3.15.0 considering you are already on the beta release channel. We haven't scrapped any features between 6.3.4.0 and 6.3.15.0.

Thank you! When I clicked on "check for updates" I get the following though:

Is that because I need to get on the beta channel?

Hi, Serena

That's right. You can simply download the installer from http://www.citavi.com/beta and install.

I am very sorry to write that I did the update, and all the annotations I made on tablet have disappeared from the preview. The file is still shown as "local" file, but the PDF in preview is shown as completely clean. I tried to re-link the PDF and only the "highlight" is now visible. The "tablet pen annotations", that I mentioned above, as I was concerned they were going to disappear, have indeed disappeared. I am now trying to re-install the old version. I literally cannot believe what just happened.

Hi,

the "tablet pen annotation" are in no way related to Citavi's handling of the PDF files.

You can direct Citavi to display external annotations by clicking the Tools button in the command bar of the preview and select Show all annotations.

That worked! Thank you. Sorry for my heated post, but I almost got a stroke.

And now the copy/paste of references between projects works. That was the original problem. Everything's solved. Thank you.
