CITAVI stops updating reference list in Word plugin

Hi all,


I am currently encountering the following problem (I have encountered this problem also roughly a year ago, but it disappeared at some point - now it is here again):


When I am working in parallel in Word and CITAVI, and add new references to CITAVI, the reference list in the Word plugin does not update. So I have to restart CITAVI completely for newly added references to show up.


Is this a known issue, and can it be fixed?


My set-up: Windows 10, newest version of Word, CITAVI version 6.1.6.0 (Beta).

Thank you for your message.


We recently released a new beta version for Citavi.


To install Citavi Beta 6.1.14, download the Setup from http://www.citavi.com/beta.

In case the problem persists, do new references show up if you click "View" > "Reload project"?

Thank you for your message.


I did as you said and installed the Beta. I now get the following message when opening Word:

"The Word Add-in version differs from the Citavi version. Here's how you can fix the problem: [...]".


What should I do? Should I manually uninstall the Add-in? How can I install the latest version of the Add-in then?


I could not test your second suggestion, because the Add-in does not load.

OK I managed to update the Add-in - I will check if the problem with the updated references persists.

Hi all,

after I updated Citavi to version 6.2 I encounter the same problem as described above. I am using Windows 10 on a Lenovo ThinkPad with Word 365 for 64-bit (Version 16.0.10730.20102).

Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately, in Citavi 6.2.0.12 this is a known issue.

It will be fixed with the upcoming beta version of Citavi 6.

We will inform you on the news section of the welcome screen as soon as it is available.

In the meantime, please reload your project after you have made changes to your references in Citavi, see Screenshot.

Just a note that I am encountering the same problem although with a later version. Citavi and plugin 6.3.1.0. Win 10, Office 365.

Please install the current beta version 6.3.6, which can be downloaded at http://www.citavi.com/beta

In case the problem should still occurr, please create a log file of the Citavi Word Add-in.
