Add "Link to" option to knowledge items
NEW
I love that when you make a knowledge item you can add age ranges, keywords, categories, and groups. I also love that you can link an entire reference to another in the program. Is there a way to add that linking function to the knowledge items? Especially for longer texts, it would be useful to be able to point to a citation in your own library that that document is also citing. E.g. knowledge item for King (author) document goes something like, "King mobilizes Smith (1997) to demonstrate that _________". I want to link Smith 1997 to that item.
Thanks!
Dear Tiffany,
Thank you for your suggestion!
This feature is already included in our list of suggestions for our developers. I have added your vote for it.
We will discuss if we can add it to the upcoming version Citavi 7.
Kind regards,
Jana

Dear Jana,
Great-thank you! And, may I also add that it would be nice to still have the "knowledge item" option when adding notes to a reference with no pdf attachment. I've found this to be really useful for key terms that I'd like to remember an author using but you can't do this when adding notes on a print book for instance.
Thanks!

Dear Tiffany,
Thanks for you reply.
You can also create knowledge items manually for references with no PDF attached.

Jana

Dear Jana,
Yep--but the specific category represented by the red highlight usually (I think called knowledge item or keyword) is the only one missing. That's what I meant.
Still, this is a small thing. Thanks to you all for building such a strong program.
Best,
Tiffany

Dear Tiffany,
Thank you very much for the clarification! Red highlights can currently only be created for references with PDF file attached.
I understand that you would like to continue using your color code (and this type of knowledge item) for all your references.
This is why I have added your feature suggestion to our wish list.
Thank you and best regards,

Dear Jana, I also think that a"link to" option in knowledge items is a must. The lack of linking in knowledge items system is not the strongest point of Citavi now. You mentioned Citavi 7 (which is great), but does it mean that said feature can't be implemented in old good Citavi 6?)
Best regards,
Max Kh

Dear Max,
We are currently discussing this new feature. I cannot promise that it will be available in Citavi 7, but it can unfortunately not be added to Citavi 6. I am sorry.

Jana
