Hi Zhenyu,

Thanks for your question.

You have three options to change the "(author year)" reference to an "author (year)" reference:

1. Delete the reference and insert it again using the insert advanced option.

In this video we show you how to delete a reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS_sf0CPwZ8&t=73s

And in this how to use the insert advanced feature: https://youtu.be/6pr2pyl5wZU

2. Change the display options of the existing reference and insert another one.

a) For the existing reference, on the "Citations" tab in Word, choose the following options:

b) Insert the same reference after the existing one wiht the option "Year only".

3. Some citation styles offer additonal option to change the reference, e.g. APA.

There, you can choose on the "Citations" tab "Option 1" to switch between "(author year)" and "author (year)":

Kind regards,

I think the third way is the right, for others will creat two citations. May you tell me what's the difference among option "1" , "2", and "3"?

Will yo add one citation function with Authors(year) into Citavi? Using two citations is weird.

Hi Zhenyu,

Thanks for your reply.

As "Format using option "1"" is working for you, you rare probably citing according to APA.

Not all citation styles are using the format options, only some. APA for example does only use "option 1".

I have added your suggestion from your other post already to our list of suggestions for future Citavi version.

Kind regards,

Jana
