Whenever you insert a new reference using the Citavi Word Add-In, an additional bibliography is created each time.
The Word Add-In fields in your document were converted to text in one of the following ways before you experienced this issue:
- The Word document was saved in .odt or .rtf format.
- The Word document was saved with Word for Mac or Google Docs at some point.
- The Citavi command "Save a copy as static text" was used to convert the Word Add-In fields to text (see screenshot).
- The Word command for converting all fields to text was used (shortcut Ctrl+Shift+F9).
For causes 1 and 2:
Save the Word file in .docx format. Then, insert all references again.
For causes 3 and 4:
Open a recent backup of your Word document as described in this Citavi manual chapter.
